"Positive Growing and Learning together"
The SNAP to grow Urban Farm and Learning Garden joins our partners; New York Cares, Congregation Shore Parkway Jewish Center (CSPJC) and local public elementary, middle and high schools in creating an environmental educational urban farm and outdoor classroom.
Our goal is to bring the community together for the common purpose of creating unique experiences that address issues of health, nutrition and the environment.
At the farm members of our community will work side by side -gardeners, artists and sustainability educators, across all ages to create a green oasis beneficial to all.
In our urban farm/ outdoor classroom we will:
- offer inquiry based, hands on enrichment classes that incorporate child led exploration and experimentation with science, art and urban farming.
- empower children to think scientifically while making the connection and applying critical thinking skills to art and nature around them
- encourage and help to foster a lifetime love of science, nature, art and urban agriculture
This project and launching of the SNAP to Grow Urban Farm is the first step toward sustainable community outreach and ecological education for our schools and neighborhood.
